Amen!
My first Wilder film was Ninotchka. His writing collaboration with Brackett was particularly refreshing comedic material. So naturally I craved more… Eventually, to this day, he is my favorite writer/director. He was apt at comedy as well as drama. After Brackett, he had great success with Diamond too, ie. Some Like It Hot!
For what it’s worth, I recently picked up a DVD copy of the Criterion release People on Sunday(1930) that he collaborated on with Siodmak, Zinnemann, and Ulmer back in Germany before their emigration. Are you familiar with that silent masterpiece?

I love Ninotchka!
I absolutely love the films he wrote with Brackett in the late 30s/early 40s. Ball of Fire and Midnight particularly. What gems!
Diamond was fantastic as well. Since The Apartment and Some Like it Hot are my two favorites, I am slightly partial to him.
I am indeed! To think all of them made a film together is overwhelming to say the least.
Thank you! 😀
